"Subject: Re: Straight talk for Republicans and Democrats.
Importance: High

So, I guess according to your screwed up analysis, McCain is good for this country. This is the guy who had a military history of crashing 7 planes and killing more than hundred of US marines. The guy who was imprisoned by the enemies and had to give state and military secrets to stay alive. The guy who hid the fact that there were many other abandoned Vietnam prisoners of war who were not rescued because he did not want to open the files and expose himself. The guy who was one of the Keating Five in the famous scandal of corruption in the Congress. The guy who chose Sara Palin who, among many other disqualifying characteristics, is a fanatic fundamentalist seeking help from a preacher to drive the bad spirits and witches away. That preacher is, by the way, is a Kenyan terrorist. McCain is a guy who wants to privatize social security to benefit his cronies, and screw up the pensioners, and the taxpayers. A guy who has 7 houses and 13 cars and doesn't have a clue about economics. If this is your choice, smarty pants, then the difference between him and Obama is a very clear choice to me. Obama did not vote for an illegal war which is still costing the country in the vicinity of 15 billion a month. He had the judgment to know that, along with very few Congress men and women, while GWB and McCain and their neo-cons were fueling the fire for war. Big difference Sir. Obama is a smart, intelligent and responsible candidate for presidency who cares about the basic American values, social justice and the constitution. Raise above your prejudice and racist ideas and think about the interest of the country for a change. The best thing you should advise the republicans, including McCain, is that they lost it. They lost it when they lost touch with reality. Reality lies in the interest of the grassroot majority of the American people. Their current principles are far away from the principles of the real republican party of such good presidents as Lincoln and Eisenhower. Take your lies and racist propaganda away and STOP sending these hate messages on the internet.
Dear Komrade Mona,

I really don't care if McCain crashed 30 airplanes. At least he CAN fly, he WAS and is a patriot, he served his country well, When the hell was the snake oil salesman, Obama, ever in the military or served "HIS" country in any way other than to organize communities to adopt socialism. I suppose you're one of the poor demented souls without education, knowledge or intelligence to be able to recognize a dude with known criminal, terrorist and socialist associations and you want HIM to be your President?

Sweet Jesus, please tell me that this is all a terrible nightmare you people are having after overdosing on those damned stupid pills.

"As a retired CWO4 who spent 35 years in the military I totally agree with your comments and I wish there were more people like you out there voicing their rage over Obama and the Democratic Congress.

Thanks, Bill. Appreciate your comments and your service to our country!

"I enjoyed your letter and am of the same belief that Obama is an empty suit.

Kind Regards, William T Lear"

Calling Obama an empty suit would be a disservice to a coat hanger!

"Subject: Re Democrat or Republican

Dear Mr. Lear,

This is be far the most coherent and poignant e-mail I have received re the election, and believe me, I have received many and sent many. I totally agree with every point you make and so does my husband who is now semi-retired but continues to oversee his company in Chicago which is now run by our two sons. My husband is an entrepreneur, like yourself. He worked hard, took many risks, used his God-given talents and became very successful. We fear for the future of our children and grandchildren. Let's hope and pray that McCain suprises us all and wins on Tuesday. My husband believes he will. He can't believe the majority of Americans can accept the philosophy of this fraud Obama. I hope he's right.

By the way, we are so impressed with your background. We had no idea of your credentials. We were only familiar with your name in connection to your aircraft. Before I was married, I worked on Wall Street for Carl Walston, the son of Vernon Walston who was the president of Walston & Co., Inc. He flew his own corporate plane and I travelled with him on business on one of them. Perhaps you know of him. My husband, Ed, and our sons have explored the possibility of purchasing a corporate jet. I'm kind of a nervous flyer even though I'm always on and off of commercial jets, so I'm always discouraging them from getting their own plane. We shall see.

We wish you the best of everything, no matter how things turn out. YOU are a true American.

"Dear Dorothy Carlton.

Thanks you so very much for your kind and generous email! Gratefully appreciated ...

I'm including below your message the only authorized version of my essay. Somewhere along the line it got changed. Not the "meat", but some details - perhaps to embarrass me or detract from my essay..

The Great Obamanation

(And a Prayer)
By: William P. Lear, Jr. – Patriot First

T’was the night of the elections
And all through the House
Sat the fat Dems of Congress
All sated and soused

Waiting to hear, what they thought was so clear
That their Boy, “the Messiah”, had made it appear
That, indeed, he had won by the slimmest of chance
In spite of the folks who knew his dumb stance

How they wailed and they sobbed when the news they did get
That all of their efforts had just turned to sh*t
Their socialist future was now down the tubes
All a result of our dear precious “rubes”

Who weren’t fooled by the demons of socialist “change”
And who found these ideas, all akin to the mange
Who knew very well, by their most basic thoughts
That these socialist miscreants had to be tossed

The REAL folks did rally ‘gainst this dismal lot
Who thought our dear country could surely be bought
How wrong they all were when the people did speak
To roust them from power and freedom to seek

America the great, and all we hold dear,
Must be saved from these demons, from whom we all fear
Rise up and speak and say it quite loudly

Be off with you fools who try to betray us
You’re nothing but rabble who want to destroy us
Take your wares elsewhere, where the sun doesn’t shine
And hear us all shout, “AMERICA IS MINE”!

Bill Seffers, Contact me Please!

I told you I had too much email! Bill, I've lost your info. Please call or email.

A continuing frustration- I AM NOT DEAD. yet.
My Plea was originally sent to my friends and family; folks who know me. About 2 weeks ago (a long time in the internet age)someone forwarding my plea mistakenly attached a link to an article referencing my father. He died in 1974. If you search me, you'll find some confused references between the two of us, sometimes using the Junior, sometimes not.

So, if you forward it to friends (and please do, there are only a few days left), make sure the piece you're does not have the erroneous info included.

Please note date on picture!

This stuff would beat anybody down

This kind of stuff is why I had to take a break. It wears you down reading this stuff. I didn't say anything ugly about him! I'm sure his mother and 3rd grade teacher are both proud.

"If your 80, give it up shit head, you are not even thinking, let alone soper.

you must have been given all your financial resources to have ever built a jet.

You know, I can't quote any of my past as you let every one think you have, but, I have tried hard to raise 4 children and take care of a wife and at this point in my life (71) have no debt to any body. Now this is no comparison of your attempt to let everybody to think of your past as a hero, because real hero's don't sit and send their past as something other than a common person.

now your hero, mr. bush started office with a positive cash flow, we were not a war with anybody and now, you say, well, its the congress, wake up stupit, we are at war, extremely in debt and you try and blame the congress!!! well, maybe so, but was it their idea??

Why don't you go and fly al real jet!!!

Just to let you know, I think your full of it.

Now, I only have a few hours towards a masters degree, but I don't think that makes you any smarter the the common drunk that needs help getting thru life.

I'm obviously not a good speller, but I had to respond to your bull shit."

A flurry of support

" Thomas Jefferson would have been proud of your remarks, Mr. Lear. I agree with your assessment of Obama...He is a worthless traitor to us..If he wants to be a true Muslim (and I believe he does) he ought to go to Iran and fight...(thats where we are headed next). I am ashamed of our media not telling the populace what it is known of this man! ..Hell! He won't even prove that he was born here. And I believe it is because HE CAN"T!..Keep giving 'em hell..If you WERE running..I would stump for you. Congradulations on such a productive life.

I have been suspecting this for some time and have been putting out feelers trying to check the objectivity of the site. This is from a TWA friend of mine who I trust to not exaggerate. This campaign has not made me very proud of our Democracy and I will be glad to get it over with and get on with life!

"A wise man asks questions, a fool is afraid of knowledge"
And a fool can be dangerous with knowledge. Here's my response to education:

An education does NOT make you intelligent. It gives you knowledge. What you DO with that knowledge determines whether you become intelligent or simply an educated anal orifice with a degree.

"Thank you for your thoughts and opinions. I admire a citizen who has done what you have and I agree whole-heartedly with what you have to say.

"Thank you Mr. Lear. I pray MORE AND MORE people will read and heed your caution.
Jim, Pastor"

"I totally agree with you. After 9/11, the thought of having a President of the US with a middle name of Hussein just isn't right. It's insane. There is not much to choose from, but McCain is the lesser of the two evils. I will forward this on to as many as I know.

Thank you for all you've done for the U.S. I hope this helps.

"Dear Mr. Lear: I called and left a message on your answer phone, but decided to also write you and say how much I appreciate your thoughts and opinion. I agree wholeheartedly with you, and I think we are in "good company" because I cannot help but think most Americans feel as we do. I am sick about the direction our country is going. I am a republican, but I do not vote "party-line". I vote for the person I think will have the people "first and foremost" in their decision process. I ran for mayor of our city a couple of years ago and it was "brutal" to say the least. I believed, and still do, that the people are not calling the shots anymore and that is wrong and defeating.

All in all, I just wanted to say thanks and say that we should say prayers, because I believe it's not over yet. Even if John McCain was to win, the congress is awful. I think we are headed for a very rocky road no matter who wins because we have not been paying attention for such a long time and now we are awakening and "it;s not pretty". God Bless you, Mr. Lear.

"Thank you for writing this excellent view.
I have voted and I voted for McCain because at least he is more truthful and knows more about the world than the other one does. I am afraid if this man is elected he will bring this country to ruin(Obama). I have lived in this country for 47 years, I am a naturalized citizen and have voted since the day I was naturalized and have in all those years never, ever heard anyone speaking like Obama.
After going thru WWII I do not want to hear anyone or see anyone speaking like the monster at that time.
Thank you again, I really appreciate what you did.
(I was born and raised in Luxembourg, and very proud of that country)"

Please allow me to introduce myself. I'm Karen. Maiden name Karen. My father served in the wars as a boom operator. Many say he didn't fight, but in actuality, the fight couldn't go on without his perseverance and knowledge. I have read many documents since his death, that praise his ability to do his job. His decision was always the last in whether or not to return to the fighting area to refuel aircrafts that would most certainly go down if he chose not to do what he was trained to do. Thank God, my dad always chose to go assist his comrades in a time of need. I hold the utmost respect and admiration for him.

If he were alive today, he'd be so ashamed of what America has become. This all in a matter of 5 very short years.

Those who rely on food stamps and welfare, with more children than they could ever support without help, are the ones that are going to determine America's future. Most have never even completed High School. Must less any further education. They live better than most working class families. It's such a shame. I was in a jewelry store the other day, a pricey one I might add, and couldn't help but overhear a woman, with her daughter I assume, comment while making payment "oops, I can't pay that with this". She had a La Purchase card. That's the food stamp card for Louisiana. I about flipped. She laughed it off, paid her $400.00 plus bill with cash, and left. What's up with that? These same live off the people fools are going to vote for the man that promises more to them. Obama is going to be our next president. Notice I did not capitalize anything other than the proper grammar. He may not be black, but his wife is. That's all that matters to some. Not his ability or knowledge.

Why don't you run for President? I'd vote for you quicker than anyone I know of yet.

By the way, Thank You for all you have done for America. That actually should have been my first sentence.

Dear Mr. Lear:

Thank you so much for your letter! We need more people like you voicing your views about this matter to the American people. This man scares me to death. I have a 44-year old son and three nephews who are in their 30's who are big-time Obama fans, as well as my sister and her husband. I seem to be the only one in my family who is not on the Obama train. They seem to be otherwise intelligent people but are so enamored with this man; however, I must say that they all hated Bush... I think possibly this is the root of their love-fest.

I've long admired you and your beautiful Lear jet. My husband and I are flying enthusiasts but we only flew Cessna's and glad we could afford to do that!

I sent this to everyone I know in hopes they would send it to everyone they know. Thanks again.

I'm Back!

Did you miss me?
The whole response to my Plea thing had worn me down. Believing as strongly as I do that Obama is the wrong man to lead our country, I wrote my plea at the most sincere and heartfelt level. So much so I put in my email address and telephone number. That resulted in receiving hundreds of emails a day and the phone - until I took the damn thing off the hook.

The vast majority of responses I receive (90%+) are positive, attaboy kinda stuff. But the 10% are mean and nasty. I'm 80 years old. I just can't answer email 18 hours a day and argue on the phone all night. I've been called in the wee hours from points around the globe. How can people be so stupidly blind?

But, I took a few days off I took a couple days trip to be a part of the celebration of the 45th Anniversary of the first Learjet flight. We had a wonderful time. I'm rejuvenated and ready to focus on the last few days before the election.

At last!

"Subject: Rethinking

I have rethought, and have switched my allegiance to the McCain ticket as have many of my friends—mostly for the reasons stated in your message. I don’t know if McCain will make a good president (I have my doubts) but at least I’m not as afraid with him as I am with Obama. Too many things have come to light since the primaries. "

"What mushroom did you crawl out from under??

Where does this Obama is a Muslim thing keep coming from???? That rumor started a year ago and was finally quashed truthfully.

As for citizen of the world, I agree that the good ole USA is threatened in so many ways. Unfortunately, it is GWB whose policies and practices has put us in a poor light with most of the rest of the world, even those countries who used to admire us, now look at us with disdain and mockery. He has whored us shamefully for his own misguided agenda. WMF"s??? What a joke. He convinced our fearless leaders, as a governing body, to go to war based on cartoon renderings, in this day of high high high tech intelligence gathering capabilities. Hell, Kennedy got better intelligence just from satellite photos, or was it the jet (namd??) that scanned the globe 34/7 in those days?

I respect your military, intelligence, and worldly experience and knowledge. However, it IS a new world we are living in, thanks to the internet and related technological communications advances, and an international economy, the likes and scale of which has never existed in history, which forces nations, ours included, to deal with each other in a manner OTHER than military might. We won that battle, now it is time to take on the new uniform and work to win the new battle. When we are interdependent, not dependent for oil from elsewhere to survive, we are left with no option but to either blow each other to smithereens and TAKE what we want (not exactly an American dream), or negotiate and compete in the market to lead the globe, not follow other nations.

I have no problem with McCain as president and had hoped he would be the GOP candidate for a few elections now. I am equally OK with Obama as president. Yes, he has some lack of experience, but he is not for sale in the way GWB has shown us (and much of Congress too). But he brings a fresh approach to the world of politic, as it is no longer a country of politic we deal within.

McCain has made one big faux pas. He picked Palin for his VP. She is very impressive when prepared for public presentation. Unfortunately, when you talk about the bottom of experience, she is at the top of the list. Her idea of global experience is to spend almost her entire life hunkered down in Alaska, remote from most of the world and most of the USA, in spite of being "neighbors" with the East. Great speaking fodder but no substance to stand on. As soon as she is off the cue, and on her feet answering questions and challenges, she flub dubs around searching for a clever answer to root questions about the economy, international tensions and dealings, and yes, family values. Her daughter is knocked up, which should have nothing to do with the campaign, but instead of backing folks out of her family's intimately personal life, she twists the situation around to signify a stand against abortion. I am sure she is thrilled about her daughters pregnancy. Yeh, right.....

And though I have no problem with McCain's age, there is the reality that he is old enough to be vulnerable to health matters that could easily knock him out of ability to perform the duties of office, so she is the back up plan?? We's be better off with Matt Cassel. Even that goof ball Quayle would be better suited. And face it, he was a nincompoop in so many ways. At least he has been working his butt off on the side line, preparing for the task he was inadvertently challenged with.

At least Obama had the sense to pick a seasoned VP candidate who brings a lot of international experience to the team. Sorry but Biden does not scare me at all compared to Palin, and is also less likely to be called into action, but is a capable and willing team player.

So stop with this crappy cheap stuff about Obama. Get some reality, i e facts into your blog, then you may be worthy of my, and many other's ears. We are really listening, not looking for bullshit because it makes us feel better about our options. We have 2 choices, unfortunately. Make the best of it.

If you're so ill-informed and believe that Obama is anything other than a socialist interloper, then, for crissakes, keep the hell out of MY blog. He IS a frigging Muslim, but worse he's an imposter and an empty suit riddled with meaningless rhetoric. He is NOT an "orator". He's a good speaker full of shit.

I fully agree!! Moreover, I believe that you should be born with ONE vote and be able to EARN up to five more thru:

1. One extra vote for serving honorably in the military service.
2. One extra vote for community service
3. One extra vote for having lived abroad for two or more years
4. One extra vote for science graduates
5. One last vote for Medal of Honor winners

No convicted felons should be allowed to vote.

Or something like that. Why should the uneducated fallen-down uneducated drunk on the street have the same say-so as any of the above?

Wish I'd added that to my book. Maybe it's not too late for the next printing if the damned thing ever takes off.

Short time, long road

"Dear Mr. Lear:
I believe that you are not only correct in your summation on Barak Obama, but that you are missing some on the other salient features that need to be looked at. Like, he does not salute or flag, he does not sing the national anthem, in fact he wants to change our flag and our anthem to" something less threatening to other countries". Most importantly he is leading the effort to miss lead our young. They are teaching about Obama as a positive figure, a "Hero", and one to be looked up to in our classrooms across America. How, because of the miss guided efforts of Acorn and people who do not recognize socialism when they hear or see it. Obama scares me to death. I'am very afraid for America and what she is doing today. This mistake of voting this man in will destory America as we now it forever. I wish I could convince the infatuated voters to wake up and look at the truth, and not at what Obama is preaching. There is no substance to his policies; how does he expect to pay for anything he is promising. He can't with out taking complete control of our whole government and changing America from a democracy into a dictatorship. We are looking at the fall of the Roman Empire (these Untied States). America will never be the same again is this man gets to be President of The United States.
Thank you Mr. Lear for your time and attention. I am just an average American citzen that is very concerned about the downfall of our nation.

Very truly yours,

And you're sooo right! We have a short time to go and a long hard road in front of us, but we MUST prevail or this country will lost at the hands of Obama, Pelosi and Reid. Keep the faith and if the ship seems to be sinking, row even harder!

2 weeks to go

"Dear Mr. Lear,
I completely agree with your letter that was sent to me on-line.
My husband and I are a retired couple in central Florida, with limited means.
We plan to vote for Senator McCain as he is the lesser of two evils. We know he loves this country and has proved it many times over.
If Obama becomes president, we worry that his changes will make this country into something very different from what our fore fathers had in mind. We want our children and grandchildren to enjoy the freedom and liberties that we have always enjoyed.
Our problem is that the media has already embraced Obama as President and with his huge amount of contributions is now going to have 30 min. ads on all major networks. How can McCain compete with that?
What can we do as "Joe Plumber" citizens to stop this insanity?????
With deepest regards,
Donna and Larry"
Your fears are well founded, BUT I think we've got a fighting chance. Especially if the pollsters are in the tank for Obama which I suspect. We've got two weeks to get the word out. I'm working 18-20 hrs/day to defrock the imposter because he MUST be stopped!

Keep the faith. All best.

More support

"I am voting for McCain. I wish Senator Lugar was running for president. I am a small business owner, and I am very afraid of what will become of my company and eleven people I employ.
And you're right to be afraid. We must somehow defeat Obama. All best
"Subject: another lonely voice-but fron Georgia,U.S.A.

Dear Mr. Lear,
I read with great interest your e-mail about Obama forwarded to me from my ex-mother-in-law in Fresno.
I must agree with you. Here in Albany, Ga., race is possibly the prime issue. It is unbelievable how much race is the focus of everyday life here. This attitude pretty much guarantees Ga. will decide on Obama as their president. I will, of course honor him as the figure in office and respect him, but disagree with him on every issue I have heard him give even a diluted opinion on.Those are few. He seems to be made of oil, he is so slick.
If you take time to look up our poverty level, educational status, etc, you will see Obama will be the death knell for any working small business here in Southwest Ga. The few of us already support most of the population here!!
Okay-- I cannot complain if I won't get off my hind end.
What can we do??

Warmest regards,

Thank you, my dear for your msg. The most we can do is to get out the vote and defrock the imposter, that's what we can do!

All best -

"Mr. Lear, THANK you for your piece begging us to be careful whom we elect in November. It was forwarded to me, and I am forwarding it on to all in my address book. I am PRAYING that folks will really LISTEN between the lines these next two weeks to what the candidates are really saying! - and like you I dread the thought of having congress AS IT IS NOW continuing to run this country."
And thank YOU for being so aware of what's really happening! All best.

Love your good basic common sense!! All best.

"i suppose you felt that way about clinton too. we are admitadly in the economic dumps now because times were so good because of him. now listen to the rest of the population that you are out of touch with. because of your bush mccain politics my family has lost our farm. i was lucky enough to get this shit ass job to live in a shitty trailer to feed my wonderful family. we are now homeless. tell a homeless man not to change things. you blame congress, but while they were trying to bail out a farmer/rancher (small business), that was wrong by you republicans, but the BIG business go down and you yell foul. yes i am going to vote for obama and hopefully you asshole will pay some taxes instead of always me."

I know how frustrated you must be - as are many Americans. No one person can be blamed for the shitty situation we find ourselves in. We are ALL victims of a ruthless and uncaring Congress who was warned and didn't take heed. It was NOT, however the fault of Bush or the Republicans. It all began with Jimmy Carter, further screwed-up by Clinton and finally collapsed under the 2006 elected Democratic Congress. And those, dear Sir, are the FACTS.

Our only salvation is to kick them ALL out of D.C.

Bill Lear, Jr.

"Save your opinions. I'm for a Balanced Budget. I'm a member of the CONCORD COALITION!
I have been since it was formed 20 years ago. We were winning in the nineties. Now, forget it.

Raising taxes somewhere to balance our budget, lower the deficit, reduce the national debt & strengthen Social Security & Medicare is going to happen. If not, then your children and grandchildren will inherit a Third World Country. The Republicans cannot continue to cut taxes for the wealthy & create giant deficits.

Can't go on forever. Somewhere along the way we all have to pay up.

Tax & Spend Liberals are a lot better than CUT TAXES & SPEND ANYWAY, REPUBLICANS.

Love the POOL TAX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
I hope you mean a "gene pool" tax ...

Ernestine takes me to task

"Dear Mr. Lear,
You do appear to be a racist. Eventhough you will never admit to yourself or anyone else.
You are the kind of divisive person that is holding this Country back from what it should be.
I am a Afriacan American woman who is 60 years old. I have lost a husband that spent 20 years serving this Country. I am proud of this Country, but there are some things that it has done that it should not and cannot take pride in.
Mr. Obama may not be your pick for president, but this doesn't give you the right to call him names and to say that he is not African American. His father was African and his mother I do believe was born in the state of Kansas, which makes him and American of African decent.
I have not traveled as entensive as you have. I have not seen the things that you have in the years that you've lived. Why not give Mr. Obama a chance since I have seen what 8 years of George W. has given this Country, that you call yours. Seeming that no one of African American decent has done anything worth stating.
This is just the statement of an un-educated African American woman in the Kansas City,
MO area.
Dear Earnestine,

I am NOT a racist. Before Colin Powell abandoned his senses, I would have voted for him in a heartbeat. I sincerely regret the loss of your husband and honor his memory in the service of our country.

Unfortunately, you have been mislead by the Demoncats into believing that our current financial mess was Bush's doing. It truly was not. It all began with Jimmy Carter, further propelled by Clinton and then finally erupted when the Dems took control of the Congress in 2006 when they failed to act aftrer being warned by McCain. It is THEY who are responsible and have the gall to try to blame it on the Republicans. Just one lie after another.

Obama wants a socialist government and a redistribution of wealth. In other words, he wants to punish the successful while rewarding the failures. That is NOT the American way.

Got to run now, Earnestine. Tis 1:00 a.m. and I'm beat.

"What else can you expect from the rich, who want to keep those who have not from having.
This is Earnestine again."
You are WAY off base. Our family has been poor as church mice. At one time, my mother had to stuff cardboard in her shoes to cover the holes in her soles because she couldn't afford to buy a new pair. We had Thanksgiving one year and my mother cried because she had spent the last of our money on a turkey and we all made do making soup out of the remnants for the rest of the month. Don't speak to me about poor cuz I've been there - done that.

It's bitching, complaining people like you who expect the successful in life to take care of you. You're just the right person to vote for Obama cuz he favors "spreading the wealth", a sicko Robin Hood communist socialist philosophy. No one's keeping you from "not having". Get an education, find a job and dedicate yourself to getting ahead and get off the backs of those you ridicule for THEIR successes.

Don't really know about Rod

"Subject: Great Visit!

Thanks SSOOO much for visiting with me today. I, for one, am so put off by the stuff flooding the Internet that I always check, and double check, the alleged sources.

When I saw that you had the courage and fortitude to list your email address and phone number, I just had to give it a shot and I was, of course, pleasantly surprised.

I am going to ask my cousin, Bob Howard, about the "checkerboard" sign that meant, "Turn Right!" when landing at Kai Tak. You guys always amaze me with your skills.

I, for one, have trouble walking upright, so you can imagine what a challenge it would be to try to fly a plane. I actually had 10 hours of flight instruction, when I realized that I would be the guy that says, "Hey! Let's go get a case of Miller Lite and go flying!"

Again, I do appreciate your forthrightness.

I must confess that after putting in a 17 hour day, I was just dozing off when you called. I wouldn't have missed it for anything! Wow! A call from Hong Kong already! What a gem you are to have made that call and how delighted I was to speak with you! I never once thought that my "Plea" would gather so much attention from so many real Americans who actually CARE! My profound thanks for that.

Let's stay in touch and all best to you and yours -

"Thank you Mr. Lear for your email that was forwarded to me on the election. Rod is a friend of mine, Whom I believe called you about your email (He lives in Hong Kong). Our friendship has suffered because I support McCain and he supports Obama. In fact I have felt so strongly about this that I joined the Republican party as a volunteer. Rod has constantly bombarded me with emails attacking McCain/Palin and others praising Obama .Even times ridiculing me for my beliefs. My own brother (He is a Chiropractor in California) told me I must not be a very intelligent person for supporting McCain. To have someone as distinguished as you to write exactly how I feel has made my day. I cannot thank you enough. Shelly"
Very odd. When I spoke with Rod he never mentioned his position on Obama. In fact, I had the distinct impression that he agreed with me ... Most odd.

Thank you for your kind words. I also have children who are rabid Liberals. We don't speak anymore and it's sad. They're professional heirs who believe the world owes them a living - as do most misguided suicidal Liberals.

Hang in there, my friend. I have a good feeling about the outcome.

Hong Kong, Djibouti

After a few hours sleep, woke up this morning to 130+ email about my plea. Had a phone call in the wee hours from Hong Kong and then email from
Djibouti. The internet really removes barriers.

"Hi Bill,
Got my copy of your book and thank you very much. I am almost
thru with a book about Winston Churchill and will start yours as soon as I
can. Should have it finished well before the elections.

I enjoy your articles and envy your storied career. You have led an
exciting life and it's fun to know someone of your stature."

To my immense surprise I am thoroughly enjoying "Bernie's War".
I'm not done so I can't file my book report yet, but I can say that no one but you could write this.
It's brilliant, raunchy, engrossing, outrageous, unique..... Yes, It's Bill Lear Jr. doing what only he can."

Your message made it all worthwhile!! I began the book in Sep of last year and put it aside when I fell ill again and damned near croaked this past spring. When things began heating up politically I figgered I better get my ass in gear and finish it before the events I was predicting actually began taking place.

"Mr. Lear, Thank you for your thoughts on Obama for president. I agree with
you 100%. Everyone I talk to is going to vote for McCain, but the media
keeps telling us that Obama is ahead in the polls. Go figure.
Thanks again, Bob"

Thanks, Bob, for being a thinking American. I think we have a chance.

Biden warned today that President Obama will be faced with a crises soon and we may not approve of his response. Do you suppose that response may include abandonment of our historic ally Isreal to appease our Islamic enemies?
Stay tuned."
Thanks! NOTHING would surprise me about Obama. We've simply GOT to defrock this imposter.
"Hi Bill,
Read your letter this morning. Just want you to know that there are one helleva lot of folks that totally agree with you and I'm sure one of them.
I traveled a lot all over the world while working for the government and I totally agree with you on the Europeans.

Unfortunately, some of the intellectuals (at least those who think they are intellectuals) just have to side with the radical liberals. I believe they do that simply to demonstrate their separation from logic and reality. Please don't let them bother you.

Some day, perhaps soon if he is elected, the majority of our nation's voters will
get a significant awakening. They will then realize how they have been taken by such
an eloquent empty suit. If you really listen to him there is simply no logic to his diatribe. He comes down on both sides of most issues....satisfying all the morons....smiling as he does it...and the intellectuals are captured by his brilliance....right. I'm just glad I'm not an intellectual and have "broken his code."

Unfortunately, he decided to speak with Joe the plumber. Joe ask a legitimate question
and Obama gave him a peak inside his mission.....SPREAD THE WEALTH AROUND.
So, when the smoke clears everybody who makes more than 40-50K will see a significant
tax increase so he can give more to the non-taxpayers of this country. That will sure cure our economic problem. If it doesn't raising taxes sure will.....right.

He is a full blown socialist who is pushing the Black liberation philosophy that he has been his theme for the past twenty years. His trillion dollar spending plan is simply going to be added to the out of control subsistence programs we already have. I believe he will take us on a path that will take decades to recover. I'm glad I will not be here that long to see it all.

Thanks for what you do Bill. Lets hope that we can at least slow the socialist progression by getting McCain elected as a stopgap measure until the voters of this nation WAKE UP.

Best regards,

You're sooo right! Obama is a bad dude and he must be defrocked in the next two weeks. I think he may have already shot himself in the foot. Let's hope it sticks.

"Mr. Lear, I just received your view on Muslim Obama, and frankly sir I would like to know what we can do about it? I see this as more than just a small problem. I truly believe that this is an attempt by our enemy, the radical or non-radical Muslim as they are both the same, (hence one would hide the other) to over throw this great nation from the inside. After all, it is truly the only way I believe they would have a chance to defeat this great nation. No-one believed what happened on 9-11 could ever happen but it did. And it is hard to believe that this Muslim has gotten as far as he has, but look at the polls. This great nation is in serious trouble Mr. Lear and I, Edward Mitchell Jones believe this with all my heart. Please Mr. Lear, use every resource you have and all I could possibly help you with to avert this National tragedy. Sincerely Edward"
Dear Bob, if I may -

About the most condolence I can give you is that I don't believe in polls and this time I believe they're in the tank for Obama and have misjudged the REAL American people who are beginning to see Obama's socialism for what it is. Joe, the plumber, has really put a crimp in Obama's style - and the American people LIKE Joe. The leftist media, also in the tank for Obama, really ripped it when they went after poor Joe.

I'm working 18-20 hrs/day to defeat the miscreant Muslim. I'm beginning to feel that we have a real chance of defeating the monster.

"Dear Mr. Lear,

I could not agree with more. I am in East Africa and all the locals want is OBAMA because he has roots here. I get into politcal discussions with these nitwits and they do not see the point.
The lesser of 2 evils would be McCain. I do not like either but if i had my druthers it is McCain .

Thanks for the piece and God bless America and yours.

Djibouti, East Africa"

I can't thank you enough for your kind words and your comments! Many thanks.

"Subject: THANK YOU

Dear Sir,

I'm 78 and have helped a couple of politicians. I couldn't agree with you more. Very few of them are honest.
In my own state [Maryland] they passed a bill to put whether we should have slots or not on referendum. As you know, the devil is in the details. They're not telling, and the general public does not know what I have been trying to have published. Our politicians don't want the public to know the truth.

When Bob Ehrlich was a delegate in Annapolis, he got to know me as a gaming supporter and gaming expert. He put me on his Rolex as an advisor on gaming. He even recommended to the then Governor, William Shaffer, that he make me gaming commissioner.

Later, when Ehrlich became governor, continuing his practice of asking my opinion on gaming issues, he send me a copy his administration's proposal for slots. After carefully studying the proposal, I told him it was not a good bill and was bad for the tax payers. Of course, he didn't like that, and nothing more was done.

Our current governor, Martin O'Malley, proposed a similar bill (even worse than Ehrlich's). Although he couldn't get it to pass, he did get enough votes to put it on the referendum. It wasn't until 2 AM, the last day of the special session, that the got the final two votes they needed for it to go to referendum. The last 3 votes that they got a 2AM were Delegates Wade Koch, Jon Cardin and minority leader Busch.

A word on these 3 who had to have been paid off. Koch, who is my Delegate, put a bill in for me the year before, stating that if we have slots this is how it should be done, etc. Jon Cardin came up to me after I testified for that bill and said he put a bill like that the year before. Speaker Busch, it is said, that his father had a gaming problem and would never vote for gaming. Therefore, I say, I think they must have been bought.

Now, my bill: They are telling the public the machines will bring $1.6 billion a year. 90% of that would have to come from Marylanders, because Maryland is surrounded by states that have slots. Using an economic multiplier of 5, the $1.6 Billion becomes $8 Billion. That's $8 Billion a year that will not be going into the cash registers of small businesses. That in itself is very bad. The figure of which I'm not sure .125 is what I figure each tax payer pays into the state coffers on various state taxes, such as income, sales, etc. .125 equals 1/8. 1/8 of $8 Billion dollars equals $1 Billion dollars that the state won't collect each and every year. Administration says they are going to make $600 million dollars a year. I say they are going to lose $400 million dollars a year.

If all the taxpayers in the state of Maryland knew these facts, I'm sure they would vote "no" on this bill.

The newspapers, television stations, etc. don't want to hear it.

Can you help?

My Dear LeRoy,

How I wish I could do something to help you. I'm working 18-20 hrs/day trying my damndest to defeat that charlatan Obama and at age 80 am growing awfully weary.

Regrettably, our nation has become one of avarice and self-indulgence and, I'm afraid, is in its last death throes if the American people don't awaken SOON and throw the whole D.C. bunch out into the street. But, no. So far the people keep sending the same idiots back to Congress again and again.

My heart is with you because you're a real apple-pie American. All best ....

"I hope other great Americans as you come out and tell it like it is!

TWA Retired Director of Flight Operations Training"
Thanks, Don. Appreciate your comments.

"God Bless! Thank You! We need more patriots like you. MORE !!!!!!!"
Your comments are gratefully appreciated! Many thankjs.
"All I can say is "WOW" I don't think anyone could have said it better. One must certainly respect your wealth of knowledge and I will be passing this (letter below) along to everyone I know in hopes this gets out before the election and makes people really think!

Thank You

Thanks, Val. Sure appreciate your comments.

"Mr Lear:

I thought you’d be interested to know that your eloquent plea for reevaluation this election season is making the rounds. I counted some 50+ people here that have now been exposed to your thinking. Sure this is only a small part of this viral exchange. You hit a note in our culture that has yet to be exposed – don’t let desperation and disappointment with W push you to naiveté. This message needs to get out. Thank you for your dedication to this country and passion to make it a better place.

Thanks for your words of encouragement, Jeff. Sure appreciate it.

Thanks for the great job with so much insight with factual backup. Your comments are spreading rapidly throughout the Internet. I hope there is enough time.

You're a special guy, Don, and your words mean a great deal to me! Many thanks.
"Mr. Lear, I received this message in my email, ostensibly from you. I agree with every word. My problem is that I am over 75 and without extra finances. If I had the money I would have huge signs all over the US asking "DO WE REALLY WANT A PRESIDENT NAMED HUSSEIN?" or some such. Even McCain, who is our only option, refuses to believe there is a Moslem connection.

I lived in the Middle East in the sixties (Iran) and know that in Islam you may lie if it promotes the cause. And haven't they promised to take us from the inside? What has happened to the US? I appreciate your message, and please - get it out everywhere! and fast! We little people need a champion!

Thank you,

Thanks, Pat. Loved your comments. Am working 18-20 hrs/day to get the msg out. All best -
"Dear Mr. Lear,
I was impressed with your writing, and and forwarding it to friends who have had difficulty in making up their minds as to whom to vote for.
One particular friend in CA is so inspirited, if you can call it that, with Obama, that she refuses to think any of the facts are "true".
Everything is a lie pertaining to Obama.
Sarah Palin is a dangerous woman; McCain is a war-monger, etc., ad-infinitum, ad nauseum.
Unfortunately, we are unable to change the minds of such people.
Thank you for all the good you have done as a man in the service of our country, and for having used the God-given gift of invention (your Lear Jet).
God Bless You and Our Country,
Mrs. Granger"
Many thanks for your msg. And God Bless You.

BTW, my father was the progenitor of the Learjet Company and I worked with him during the development of the aircraft itself. All best wishes.

Lest we Forget

Anyone who can read this true story without shedding a tear and being so terribly proud of our young men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for you and me and our country is brain dead. Kudos to our unnamed airline captain, his flight crew and the airline he's employed by.

My lead flight attendant came to me and said, 'We have an H.R.
on this flight'. H.R. stands for human remains.

'Are they military?' I asked. 'Yes', she said. 'Is there an
escort?' I asked. 'Yes, I already assigned him a seat'.

'Would you please tell him to come to the flight deck. You can
board him early', I said.

A short while later, a young army sergeant entered the flight
deck. He was the image of the perfectly dressed soldier. He introduced
himself and I asked him about his soldier. The escorts of these fallen
soldiers talk about them as if they are still alive and still with us.

'My soldier is on his way back to Virginia', he said. He
proceeded to answer my questions, but offered no words on his own. I
asked him if there was anything I could do for him and he said no. I
told him that he had the toughest job in the military and that I
appreciated the work that he does for the families of our fallen
soldiers. The first officer and I got up out of our seats to shake his
hand. He left the flight deck to find his seat.

We completed our preflight checks, pushed back and performed an
uneventful departure. About 30 minutes into our flight I received a
call from the lead flight attendant in the cabin. 'I just found out the
family of the soldier we are carrying, is on board', he said. He then
proceeded to tell me that the father, mother, wife and 2-year old
daughter were escorting their son, husband, and father home. The family
was upset because they were unable to see the container that the soldier
was in before we left. We were on our way to a major hub at which the
family was going to wait four hours for the connecting flight home to
Virginia. The father of the soldier told the flight attendant that knowing
his son was below him in the cargo compartment and being unable
to see him was too much for him and the family to bear.

He had asked the flight attendant if there was anything that
could be done to allow them to see him upon our arrival. The family
wanted to be outside by the cargo door to watch the soldier being taken
off the airplane. I could hear the desperation in the flight attendants
voice when he asked me if there was anything I could do. 'I'm on it', I
said. I told him that I would get back to him.

Airborne communication with my company normally occurs in the
form of e-mail like messages. I decided to bypass this system and
contact my flight dispatcher directly on a secondary radio. There is a
radio operator in the operations control center who connects you to the
telephone of the dispatcher. I was in direct contact with the
dispatcher. I explained the situation I had onboard with the family and
what it was the family wanted. He said he understood and that he would
get back to me.

Two hours went by and I had not heard from the dispatcher. We
were going to get busy soon and I needed to know what to tell the
family. I sent a text message asking for an update. I saved the return
message from the dispatcher and this following is the text:

'Captain, sorry it has taken so long to get back to you. There
is policy on this now and I had to check on a few things. Upon your
arrival a dedicated escort team will meet the aircraft. The team will
escort the family to the ramp and planeside. A van will be used to load
the remains with a secondary van for the family. The family will be
taken to their departure area and escorted into the terminal where the
remains can be seen on the ramp. It is a private area for the family
only. When the connecting aircraft arrives, the family will be escorted
onto the ramp and planeside to watch the remains being loaded for the
final leg home. Captain, most of here in flight control are veterans.
Please pass our condolences on to the family.. Thanks.'

I sent a message back telling flight control thanks for a good
job. I printed out the message and gave it to the lead flight attendant
to pass on to the father. The lead flight attendant was very thankful
and told me, 'You have no idea how much this will mean to them.'
Things started getting busy for the descent, approach and landing.

After landing, we cleared the runway and taxied to the ramp
area. The ramp is huge with 15 gates on either side of the alleyway.
It is always a busy area with aircraft maneuvering every which way to
enter and exit. When we entered the ramp and checked in with the ramp
controller, we were told that all traffic was being held for us.

'There is a team in place to meet the aircraft', we were told.
It looked like it was all coming together, then I realized that once we
turned the seat belt sign off, everyone would stand up at once and delay
the family from getting off the airplane. As we approached our gate, I
asked the copilot to tell the ramp controller we were going to stop
short of the gate to make an announcement to the passengers. He did
that and the ramp controller said, 'Take your time.'

I stopped the aircraft and set the parking brake. I pushed the
public address button and said, 'Ladies and gentleman, this is your
captain speaking. I have stopped short of our gate to make a special
announcement. We have a passenger on board who deserves our
honor and respect. His name is private XXXXXX, a soldier who
recently lost his life. Private XXXXXX is under your feet in the cargo
hold. Escorting him today is army Sergeant XXXXXXX. Also, on
board are his father, mother, wife, and daughter. Your entire flight
crew is asking for all passengers to remain in their seats to allow the
family to exit the aircraft first. Thank you.'

We continued the turn to the gate, came to a stop and started
our shutdown procedures. A couple of minutes later I opened the cockpit
door. I found the two forward flight attendants crying, something you
just do not see. I was told that after we came to a stop, every
passenger on the aircraft stayed in their seats, waiting for the family
to exit the aircraft. When the family got up and gathered their things,
a passenger slowly started to clap his hands. Moments later more
passengers joined in and soon the entire aircraft was clapping. Words of
'God Bless You', I'm sorry, thank you, be proud, and other kind words
were uttered to the family as they made their way down the aisle and out
of the airplane. They were escorted down to the ramp to finally be with
their loved one.

Many of the passengers disembarking thanked me for the
announcement I had made. They were just words, I told them, I could say
them over and over again, but nothing I say will bring back that brave

I respectfully ask that all of you reflect on this event and the
sacrifices that millions of our men and women have made to ensure our
freedom and safety in these United States of America.

"Mr. Lear: I read your article with interest. I am 82 years old and have
been a republican for the last 30 years - even voted for GWB ONCE. I will
never return to the party which has gotten us into the situation we are in -
mostly through ignorance, I think. I had a lot of respect for McCain until
he chose Palin for his running mate, and I still cannot understand why he
did that. Anything he hoped to accomplish with her could have been more
easily and rationally done by chosing one of the other women governors who
at least have a brain. I could buy anything you say and believe that you
are sincere, except for your comment that Obama is more muslim than black.
Obama may be a neophite in executive matters, but he has been around and in
the public eye long enough for anyone to see that he has no ulterion motives
in wanting to be president. Do you actually think that he would somehow
hand us over to the Taliban? Really? If you want the most reasonable
opinion about the two candidates that I have ever heard, listen to Colin
Powell. Thanks for listening."

In my - and other's - eyes, Colin powell has demeaned himself beyond

If Obama is not a Muslim, why did he write in his own book, (paraphrased)
"If things turn ugly I'll have to take the Muslim position".

Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you enjoy the show?

Bill Lear,Jr.

Manufactured Character?

"Subject: Is this for real?

Dear Mr. Lear,
If you are indeed who you say that you are, WHY are you not shouting this from the proverbial rooftops of the major news programs? No, wait. I know the answer to that. The major stations do not want to hear what you are saying.

Although not as well traveled, or mature (Hey! I'm "only" 58!) as you, I share your opinion about Obama. I have a sick feeling that our nation is being "had" by the Democratic party. Senator Obama the candidate is a manufactured personality, compliments of David Axlerod.

I became curious after reading from Obama's first book about where he got the money to attend Harvard, AND the money to make a round the world trip after two years at Occidental College. Do you know? I know what most investigators have turned up, that there is a tie with Black Panthers, Muslims, and an Arab prince. What do you know about that?

Yours was a VERY thought-provoking email.

Thanks, Alana -

I am shouting as loudly as I can - working 18-20 per day trying to simply confirm the message you read is real and what I wrote.

We have submitted my missive to various news agencies, but so far to no avail. It's bound to happen though as I receive about 300 emails daily and my phone rings incessantly - sometimes at 3:00 a.m.

Thank you for being a concerned citizen and for your support.

Bill Lear, Jr.

Fact v Fiction

"So you are 80? I am 78 and hope I will be able to determine fact from fiction a little better in 2 years than what I just read. Don"
Seems to me that you didn't learn much in your 78 years. At least senility hasn't infected me yet.

An Astonishingly High Opinion

"Mr. Lear,

You have an astonishingly high opinion of yourself. Seventy percent of your screed was touting your own accomplishments. Unfortunately, you also have an astonishingly limited lack of knowledge of the world as it is.

By your total embrace of ultra-right ideology, you've poisoned your own ability to think critically. "

Dear Mr.. (Ms?) Warrick,

I don't apologize for attempting to qualify myself before commenting on such serious matters.

May I ask what your own military contribution to our country has been?

Have you ever lived - or even BEEN - outside of the country?

Please astonish me with your own worldly accomplishments. I'd certainly like to know what qualifies YOU to make these kinds of judgments.

I've presented my views based on lifelong experiences. I doubt that you, based on the idiocy of your extreme far-left leanings which will eventually destroy our great county, have ever had ANY and I feel dreadfully sorry for you and those of your ilk.

Please don't bother to reply. I'm 80 years-old and easily provoked to puke when I read the "screed" that you socialists spew.

Bill Lear

"Subject: Re: Obama Candidacy

Actually, I spent twelve years in the Pentagon, first in USAF Intelligence on the Air Staff, and then later, a lengthy tour as an Air Force JAG. I also carried a rifle in the mountains of Korea for thirteen of the coldest months of my life. I have a couple of minor ribbons. Does that count?

I've lived outside of the U.S. on three different occasions, once for post-doctoral study in international law at McGill and University College, London, after I finished at Georgetown Law. I have visited 24 foreign countries, including all of the European state on a number of occasions, and all of the Baltic states, Russia, Turkey, Greece, and many of the Southeast African and East Asian nations. Does that count?

I worked with DIA for some years, and spent the latter part of my legal career serving as Assistant General Counsel of Cessna Aircraft. Does that count?

I voted for Barry Goldwater in the very first election for which I was eligible to vote, and was proud of it. I'm hardly a "far-left leaning socialist (!!!)", but until 2002, a registered Republican who became sickened by the Bush Republican party.

"Trust me on this," you say. Why should I trust you? Are you smarter than me? Better educated than me? More patriotic than me? I doubt it.
I think you've let your hatred consume you.

R. Warrick
Well, now that you ask, yes, I think I AM smarter than you. Anyone voting for Obama has nothing lurking in that round thing on top of their necks. I knew Barry Goldwater well and he was an outstanding patriot. He must be turning in his grave as the turkeys of this country try to take over.

Actually you've let your hatred consume YOU. In your eagerness to elect anyone but a Republican, your hatred for Bush and your misguided belief that he's somewhat responsible for our current mess, you and the other uninformed would elect Rosie O'Donnell without caring a whit about what happens to our country.

What really baffles me, though, is how you could have accumulated such a vast education and experience and still not have the faintest clue of what's happening to our country.

You know the old saying, opinions are like...

"Opinions are like a**holes, every one has one. Maybe your perspective is different than those of us who work full time and struggle to keep the lights on and food on the table.
Angela in Ohio"

And how do you think we got to where we are? We worked our asses off. My mother had to stuff cardboard in her shoes to cover the holes in the soles because there was no money for new ones and still be able to eat.

Bill Lear, Jr.

This One's Serious.

"Mr. Lear,,,,,,please tell me that your enlighting letter to the world was not to just sell a book??? B.W."

My book offering is an effort at levity in an otherwise very serious business. Good Lord. How did you manage to come up with THAT? You're either a believer or you're not. My heart and soul went into that piece.

"Bill,,,,,forgive the negative thought,,,,,,,i've been ripped off so much lately,,,it's hard to see reality once in a while,,,,,,,thanks for taking to time to write about our horrible state of affairs,,,,,,,,,And Yes,,,,,,,I too think we should send the whole goverment body to the bread lines for a while so that they might wake up and get a consience about their actions..........B.W. republican and vet"

They're about 20:1 in agreement

"I, like many others, have gone back and forth on trying to decide who to vote for in this election. I was set to vote for McCain and read about his ideas on taxing us on our insurance benefits. I am in my 60's but still working full time(thanks in part to the stock market) and this is scary for me. Like most "baby boomers" I had hopes of retiring early and enjoying life to the fullest extent possible. Your email, sent to me by a dear friend, has solidified my for McCain and I have forwarded it to everyone I know with a plea to read carefully. Thanks so much for that email and may God help us all!"
Thank you so much for your message! I spend 18-20 hrs/day replying to those who either swear by mr or swear AT me!

Thank you so much for your support, gratefully appreciated!

" Does "ALL" include you ,Me, McCain and everyone else except Obama? And are you saying that McCain would? Because if that is the 10% that McCain doesn't agree with Bush on then McCain has my vote; but if not then I have problem with the mcCain 90% approval rate with bush because bush did nothing to protect me from having my American company taken over by illegals. And all I can do is hope that someone that doesn't agree with Bush 90% will do better because of what Bush let Congress do to me personally that killed my American dream and sent me looking for a career change in my late 30's while Bush bragged about how him and his friends saved money on construction cost by hiring illegals and giving them my job. That would make any USA citizen angry."
Our Congress is. And a change there would be welcomed by all. You ain't gonna get it done with Obama. You gotta fire the whole damnable crooked Congress.
"Did you really author this article? I suspect you didn't.
Indeed I did, but someone along the line added the header which sends the reader to a website referring to my FATHER, who died 30 years ago. I wrote everything beginning with, "A Humble Plea ....."

Thanks for your enquiry and all best wishes, Bill.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Let me introduce you to our new chief Pilot.

He has never flown an airplane; in fact, he has ever even sat in the cockpit, but he says he has ridden on planes before.

He knows nothing about radar, or how to start/stop the engines, or anything about all these gadgets, but we are sure he will guide us safely through the storms we may encounter on this flight because he told us he could do it ... besides, he is a great speaker.

CONCLUSION: What are we thinking? Think long and hard before you vote.

If this doesn't worry you ... forget that I mentioned it."

Great questions!

"Mr. Lear,

I too am worried about Obama and feel that he is a huge threat to this great nation!

And you're right to be worried!

"You are so right,I hope everyone read what you have righten, you made my day I now know how to vote .
Thank You
Thank you for your kind words!!
"You reflect my sentiments exactly. If we do nothing and let this person be elected we as a country will be in deep kim chee."
Charles, US ARMY"
Many thanks, Charles. Sure appreciate your kind words.
That was very well put, I like many Hispanic-American truely believe that this Country should be run by someone whose been there. Mr. McCain does not pretend to be someone else to please the American people. Mr. McCain has served his country and contiunes to serve."
Dear Sir! And thank YOU for your insightful note!

"Good Morning Big Bill. Hope you had a nice weekend. You have fully redeemed yourself and are the newest member of the Big Willy book of good guys to know. I knew that after reading your first response. That makes you my newest best friend. . Welcome Aboard Shipmate....good to know you.
I read about your mid-air. Looks like you were really lucky to get out of that thing. I have a bad back too....but not as bad as yours. Sad you can't fly anymore. Sad I don't fly anymore but hey we're both on the right side of the dirt and not smelling too bad.
I would be honored to read your books. Thank you so much. Looking forward to receiving them. And speaking of the Bronx, I used to admire Colon Powell, he's from the south Bronx , but yesterday endorsed Obama. Why so late? What's his motivation? He lost a little in my eyes yesterday.
Anyway, have a great week Bill. Talk to you down the road.
"GOD BLESS YOU AND THE UNITED STATES. Now, let’s see how many more people I can forward this to.
What a love you are! Thank you!

"Suggest you adjust your ops plan based on updated intelligence."
Having served in the military myself, I really don't put much stock in what SOME of our military leaders have to say about politics. Especially those who support higher taxes and socialism. If I may, I think that turning tail in a battle for survival is not the American way for our great Republic. Electing a man we know nothing about is reprehensible and irresponsible.

Appreciate your words, though. Thank you.

"Thank you for your comments about Obama, my question is was he even born in the USA?"
Good question. It's in the Court. Let's see if it's a Demoncatic Court!
"I read your letter to voting Americans.
I disagree. Don't be afraid. Our world won't come to an end just because Obama will be president."
My mail, running 20:1 against Obama, tells me a different story. Folks are running SCARED!

"Dear Mr. Lear.

Thank you for your fine statement on the presidential situation. I too,
like you, am a veteran and spent a number of years as a clandestine officer
throughout Africa and Central America as well as the Middle East. I know
very well what you are talking about.

I just want to thank you for that statement of what the situation is as I
fear terribly for our country as the buffoons in Sodom on the Potomac race
to destroy our country.

Please have many more years and "Semper Fi!"

You're another GREAT American! Thanks for your msg and all best!

"Subject: GWB

Mr. Lear -

I received a copy of your letter, "A plea to McCain and Obama Supporters". I believe, as you do, that Obama is not the guy, and although McCain was not my choice, he is clearly the best choice we have.
I was struck however, at the reference to George Bush. I certainly do not think that he has been a perfect President by any stretch, and I do not agree with him on a number of issues. But to call him a "clown" is totally unacceptable to me, and with all due respect, it should be to you, sir. George Bush is a patriot. He is an honest, God-fearing man, who has done his job for 7 1/2 years as best he could. And given the hand he was dealt (9-11 for openers, and many other major challenges), he should be remembered historically as one of our greatest Presidents.
You probably do not agree with that, but at the very least, sir, please do not refer to this man as a clown. By doing so, you demonstrate a disrespect for a man to whom we owe a great deal, and love him or hate him, I would challenge any objective, thinking person to logically refute that.
As I see it, you and GW have quite a bit in common, and I truly mean that as a compliment. Although I have never met either of you, I think both of you are courageous, self-sacrificing, intelligent ( Yes, intelligent. As I'm sure you know, this "dummy" as some folks like to quip about Bush, has a Harvard MBA. Last time I checked those did not come via open-book correspondence courses in one's spare time.), thoughtful, "Country-first" patriots, who care very little about any negative consequences of doing what each of you feel is the right thing. Both of you have served your Country to a much greater extent than probably 99.99% of Americans, and both of you deserve every American's respect and gratitude. Both of you certainly have mine.
Allow me to close with my sincere thanks to you for your service to this great Country. May God bless you, and may He guide our Country to elect John McCain to lead us through these difficult times.
If you have time, I would love to hear back from you.
Perhaps I was a tad too harsh on GW. After almost 8 years I had hoped that he'd learn to pronounce the word "to", but then Obama does the same thing. I know that GW is a patriot and I guess I was trying to assuage the Demoncat Dummies somewhat because of my own feelings about how GW comes on in public appearances. You must admit that's he's not the greatest orator in the world, but then again, look at the empty suit Obama who's just full of rhetoric, but is a master orator. Guess we can't have it both ways. Sorry if I've disturbed you. If I had to write it all over again I would probably use a kinder adjective. OK?

And I do so appreciate your kind words. I'm working 18-20 hrs/day trying to get the word out and it's beginning to wear this 80 year old bag of bones down to a frazzle! I'm a 30 year old trapped in this ancient body ...

All best - Bill

"Bill -

Thank you for your kind response. I feel MUCH better!! As a native Bostonian, I'm still trying to get over the trauma of my Red Sox losing last night to Tampa Bay. Your email made my day.
I find Bush's oratory skills interesting. Maybe it's because I have been living in Texas for the past 30-plus years, or maybe I just like listening to the guy (I do cringe a little when he says "neucular", but there's a certain down-homeness about it that makes me smile as well.), but I have found many of Bush's important speeches to be inspirational, with a clarity of message that makes his overall communicative effort very effective. Maybe I'm crazy, and I might prove it with my next statement. I do not consider Obama an excellent speaker. Good, maybe, but I'm just not impressed by his oratory. I realize that my view may have a lot to do with what he is saying, but his delivery just doesn't do it for me.
I think I have a little credibility on the issue, as I have been in sales and sales management most of my working life, so I guess you could say that I speak for a living (I guess "spoke" would be more accurate, as I reluctantly took early retirement after my job was eliminated about a year ago. I don't want to retire, nor do I intend to. Know of any jobs selling Lears, building materials, or ice to Eskimos?).
Anyway, take care of yourself. Be carefull about putting in too many 18-20 hour days. We need to keep great Americans like yourself around for as long as we can.

You're an inspiration, Bob! Many thanks.

"I agree wholeheartedly with your sending to everyone in my email box.
God bless you for "airing" this---I just hope people will wake up to what a fraud Obama really is! GOD BLESS AMERICA!!! Patti"
Patti - America is made great by people like YOU! Thanks for your message.

I totally agree. I also spent several tours overseas as a pilot and USAF staff member. I cannot understand why America just doesn't get it! They really don't have a clue about what is really important.
"What do you think about Colin Powell????? GR"
He's a big disappointment and has demeaned himself immeasurably.
"Finally, someone that talks straight. The sad fact is that the majority of Americans hate
George Bush so much that they'll vote for any democrat to replace him. Obama is an empty suit with no experience in anything that qualifies him to be president. He is a muslim that will surely come out if he is elected. If we want to split the nation, put Obama in the white house. Having fought in the Vietnam war myself, I have a lot of respect for John McCain but I'm dissappointed that he hasn't attacked this clown where he is most vulnerable, his strange association with Jerimiah Wright and his radical leanings.

Kudos to a real American!! Many thanks for your msg of encouragement! Bill

"why don't you publish this article in the Wall Street Journal? Someone needs to start the ball rolling and certainly I don't have the $$ or the knowledge you do. If I did, I would. It is up to people like you to do something positive for this country. God knows the Dims with all their money are doing everything they can to get the "experiment" elected and doing everything negative they can for this country."

If I could afford it, I would. Contrary to popular belief, I am NOT rolling in money, alas.

"With your contacts, then maybe you can find someone who can. I'm not being flip - this is serious business. Fran"

Will try to do what I can. Thanks for your support!
"That is the first bit of sense I've read since this whole mess started.
I just can't believe the American people are falling for this man.
Thanks you for caring enough to write.

And thanks to a real Patriot!.

Oh, I'm Tired

Yesterday I received more than 80 emails about my Plea to our great country. I'm 80 years old! I spent 18 hours at my desk returning individual emails. I just can't do it until the election, but I do believe in this country and this cause. So, I'm going to try and do batch answering here on the blog. If you agree with me or the writer, have at it. If you disagree, let's have a discussion right here.

"Subject: Re: your letter

your article has been sent to every member of our association at Indian Hills Airpark and the general agreement is off a positive nature from all owners (92)......Sleep well and thanks again from all of us.....George (84 years young and still flying)"

Well, bless you George!! You're an absolute STAR! Many thanks!

Still grinding away trying to sooth the unwashed.

I'm at Spruce Creek Fly-In (7FL6). Envy you still flying! Sleep well, too. I still have a few hours to go. All best to you and your flying gang.

A Voice from the past

"Subject: Thanks Bill

I've forwarded your letter......I hope it is authentic.

I'm a retired ATC'r from ATL Center.......and you and I have likely spoken with each other sometime in past years.

Keep the faith!.....hopefully we can defeat the enemy.

Kind Regards,

Hi Benn,

Thanks for your E. Yep, the letter re Obama is authentic. It's been 8-9 years since I last flew. Perhaps we did speak. I was either N-7DV, N-8BL or N-3895L flying out of SAT.Thanks for your support, Benn. All best.

"Are you the Lear of Lear Jet fame as represented in the email? I don't recall a Lear living in Central Florida. Someone is sending this out with your name associated with it. If you are saying this, then I will tell you that I am firmly in the same boat as you are in. However, I am a registered Republican. I can't stand the possibility of this country being led by Obama bin Barrack. I too am a veteran and patriot."

Yep. That's really me. Have lived here near Daytona Beach for about 8 years now.
Unfortunately, someone added a header to my original message leading one to a website which describes my FATHER - not me. My father died on May 14, 1978 - about 30 years ago. I suppose that's where the confusion arose. I hope this clarifies the issue! AND, many thanks for checking the veracity of me, my plea for sanity and your support in getting the empty suit "Messiah" defrocked. All best wishes -

Bill Lear, Jr.
