So, I guess according to your screwed up analysis, McCain is good for this country. This is the guy who had a military history of crashing 7 planes and killing more than hundred of US marines. The guy who hid the fact that there were many other abandoned Vietnam prisoners of war who were not rescued because he did not want to open the files and expose himself. The guy who was one of the Keating Five in the famous scandal of corruption in the Congress. That preacher is, by the way, is a Kenyan terrorist. McCain is a guy who wants to privatize social security to benefit his cronies, and screw up the pensioners, and the taxpayers. A guy who has 7 houses and 13 cars and doesn't have a clue about economics. If this is your choice, smarty pants, then the difference between him and Obama is a very clear choice to me. Obama did not vote for an illegal war which is still costing the country in the vicinity of 15 billion a month. He had the judgment to know that, along with very few Congress men and women, while GWB and McCain and their neo-cons were fueling the fire for war. Big difference Sir. Obama is a smart, intelligent and responsible candidate for presidency who cares about the basic American values, social justice and the constitution. Raise above your prejudice and racist ideas and think about the interest of the country for a change. The best thing you should advise the republicans, including McCain, is that they lost it. They lost it when they lost touch with reality. Reality lies in the interest of the grassroot majority of the American people. Their current principles are far away from the principles of the real republican party of such good presidents as Lincoln and Eisenhower. About 2 weeks ago (a long time in the internet age)someone forwarding my plea mistakenly attached a link to an article referencing my father. He died in 1974. If you search me, you'll find some confused references between the two of us, sometimes using the Junior, sometimes not.

I agree wholeheartedly with you, and I think we are in "good company" because I cannot help but think most Americans feel as we do. I am sick about the direction our country is going. Please allow me to introduce myself. I'm Karen. Maiden name Karen. My father served in the wars as a boom operator. Many say he didn't fight, but in actuality, the fight couldn't go on without his perseverance and knowledge. I have read many documents since his death, that praise his ability to do his job. His decision was always the last in whether or not to return to the fighting area to refuel aircrafts that would most certainly go down if he chose not to do what he was trained to do. Thank God, my dad always chose to go assist his comrades in a time of need. I hold the utmost respect and admiration for him.

If he were alive today, he'd be so ashamed of what America has become. This all in a matter of 5 very short years.

Those who rely on food stamps and welfare, with more children than they could ever support without help, are the ones that are going to determine America's future. Most have never even completed High School. Must less any further education. They live better than most working class families. It's such a shame. I was in a jewelry store the other day, a pricey one I might add, and couldn't help but overhear a woman, with her daughter I assume, comment while making payment "oops, I can't pay that with this". She had a La Purchase card. That's the food stamp card for Louisiana. I about flipped. She laughed it off, paid her $400.00 plus bill with cash, and left. What's up with that? These same live off the people fools are going to vote for the man that promises more to them. Obama is going to be our next president. Notice I did not capitalize anything other than the proper grammar. He may not be black, but his wife is. That's all that matters to some. Not his ability or knowledge.

Did you miss me?
The whole response to my Plea thing had worn me down. Believing as strongly as I do that Obama is the wrong man to lead our country, I wrote my plea at the most sincere and heartfelt level. So much so I put in my email address and telephone number. That resulted in receiving hundreds of emails a day and the phone - until I took the damn thing off the hook.

The vast majority of responses I receive (90%+) are positive, attaboy kinda stuff. But the 10% are mean and nasty. I'm 80 years old. I just can't answer email 18 hours a day and argue on the phone all night. I've been called in the wee hours from points around the globe. How can people be so stupidly blind?

But, I took a few days off I took a couple days trip to be a part of the celebration of the 45th Anniversary of the first Learjet flight. We had a wonderful time. I'm rejuvenated and ready to focus on the last few days before the election.

He convinced our fearless leaders, as a governing body, to go to war based on cartoon renderings, in this day of high high high tech intelligence gathering capabilities. Hell, Kennedy got better intelligence just from satellite photos, or was it the jet (namd??) that scanned the globe 34/7 in those days?

I respect your military, intelligence, and worldly experience and knowledge. However, it IS a new world we are living in, thanks to the internet and related technological communications advances, and an international economy, the likes and scale of which has never existed in history, which forces nations, ours included, to deal with each other in a manner OTHER than military might. We won that battle, now it is time to take on the new uniform and work to win the new battle. When we are interdependent, not dependent for oil from elsewhere to survive, we are left with no option but to either blow each other to smithereens and TAKE what we want (not exactly an American dream), or negotiate and compete in the market to lead the globe, not follow other nations.

I have no problem with McCain as president and had hoped he would be the GOP candidate for a few elections now. I am equally OK with Obama as president. Yes, he has some lack of experience, but he is not for sale in the way GWB has shown us (and much of Congress too). But he brings a fresh approach to the world of politic, as it is no longer a country of politic we deal within.

McCain has made one big faux pas. He picked Palin for his VP. She is very impressive when prepared for public presentation. Unfortunately, when you talk about the bottom of experience, she is at the top of the list. Her idea of global experience is to spend almost her entire life hunkered down in Alaska, remote from most of the world and most of the USA, in spite of being "neighbors" with the East. Great speaking fodder but no substance to stand on. As soon as she is off the cue, and on her feet answering questions and challenges, she flub dubs around searching for a clever answer to root questions about the economy, international tensions and dealings, and yes, family values. Her daughter is knocked up, which should have nothing to do with the campaign, but instead of backing folks out of her family's intimately personal life, she twists the situation around to signify a stand against abortion. I am sure she is thrilled about her daughters pregnancy. Yeh, right.....

And though I have no problem with McCain's age, there is the reality that he is old enough to be vulnerable to health matters that could easily knock him out of ability to perform the duties of office, so she is the back up plan?? We's be better off with Matt Cassel. Even that goof ball Quayle would be better suited. And face it, he was a nincompoop in so many ways. At least he has been working his butt off on the side line, preparing for the task he was inadvertently challenged with.

At least Obama had the sense to pick a seasoned VP candidate who brings a lot of international experience to the team. Sorry but Biden does not scare me at all compared to Palin, and is also less likely to be called into action, but is a capable and willing team player.

So stop with this crappy cheap stuff about Obama. Get some reality, i e facts into your blog, then you may be worthy of my, and many other's ears. We are really listening, not looking for bullshit because it makes us feel better about our options. We have 2 choices, unfortunately. Make the best of it.

3. One extra vote for having lived abroad for two or more years
4. One extra vote for science graduates
5. One last vote for Medal of Honor winners

No convicted felons should be allowed to vote.

I must agree with you. Here in Albany, Ga., race is possibly the prime issue. Dear Sir,

I'm 78 and have helped a couple of politicians. I couldn't agree with you more. Very few of them are honest.
In my own state [Maryland] they passed a bill to put whether we should have slots or not on referendum. As you know, the devil is in the details. They're not telling, and the general public does not know what I have been trying to have published. Our politicians don't want the public to know the truth.

When Bob Ehrlich was a delegate in Annapolis, he got to know me as a gaming supporter and gaming expert. He put me on his Rolex as an advisor on gaming. He even recommended to the then Governor, William Shaffer,that he make me gaming commissioner.

Later, when Ehrlich became governor, continuing his practice of asking my opinion on gaming issues, he send me a copy his administration's proposal for slots. After carefully studying the proposal, I told him it was not a good bill and was bad for the tax payers. Of course, he didn't like that, and nothing more was done.

Our current governor, Martin O'Malley, proposed a similar bill (even worse than Ehrlich's). Although he couldn't get it to pass, he did get enough votes to put it on the referendum. It wasn't until 2 AM, the last day of the special session, that the got the final two votes they needed for it to go to referendum. The last 3 votes that they got a 2AM were Delegates Wade Koch, Jon Cardin and minority leader Busch.

A word on these 3 who had to have been paid off. Koch, who is my Delegate, put a bill in for me the year before, stating that if we have slots this is how it should be done, etc. Jon Cardin came up to me after I testified for that bill and said he put a bill like that the year before. Speaker Busch, it is said, that his father had a gaming problem and would never vote for gaming. Therefore, I say, I think they must have been bought.

Now, my bill: They are telling the public the machines will bring $1.6 billion a year. 90% of that would have to come from Marylanders, because Maryland is surrounded by states that have slots. Using an economic multiplier of 5, the $1.6 Billion becomes $8 Billion. That's $8 Billion a year that will not be going into the cash registers of small businesses. That in itself is very bad. The figure of which I'm not sure .125 is what I figure each tax payer pays into the state coffers on various state taxes, such as income, sales, etc. .125 equals 1/8. 1/8 of $8 Billion dollars equals $1 Billion dollars that the state won't collect each and every year. Administration says they are going to make $600 million dollars a year. I say they are going to lose $400 million dollars a year.

If all the taxpayers in the state of Maryland knew these facts, I'm sure they would vote "no" on this bill.

The newspapers, television stations, etc. don't want to hear it.

Anyone who can read this true story without shedding a tear and being so terribly proud of our young men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for you and me and our country is brain dead. Kudos to our unnamed airline captain, his flight crew and the airline he's employed by.

GOD BLESS THIS AIRLINE CAPTAIN

My lead flight attendant came to me and said, 'We have an H.R.
on this flight'. H.R. stands for human remains.

'Are they military?' I asked. 'Yes', she said. 'Is there an
escort?' I asked. 'Yes, I already assigned him a seat'.

'Would you please tell him to come to the flight deck. You can
board him early', I said.

A short while later, a young army sergeant entered the flight
deck. He was the image of the perfectly dressed soldier. He introduced
himself and I asked him about his soldier. The escorts of these fallen
soldiers talk about them as if they are still alive and still with us.

'My soldier is on his way back to Virginia', he said. He
proceeded to answer my questions, but offered no words on his own. I
asked him if there was anything I could do for him and he said no. I
told him that he had the toughest job in the military and that I
appreciated the work that he does for the families of our fallen
soldiers. The first officer and I got up out of our seats to shake his
hand. He left the flight deck to find his seat.

We completed our preflight checks, pushed back and performed an
uneventful departure. About 30 minutes into our flight I received a
call from the lead flight attendant in the cabin. 'I just found out the
family of the soldier we are carrying, is on board', he said. He then
proceeded to tell me that the father, mother, wife and 2-year old
daughter were escorting their son, husband, and father home. The family
was upset because they were unable to see the container that the soldier
was in before we left. We were on our way to a major hub at which the
family was going to wait four hours for the connecting flight home to
Virginia. The father of the soldier told the flight attendant that knowing
his son was below him in the cargo compartment and being unable
to see him was too much for him and the family to bear.

He had asked the flight attendant if there was anything that
could be done to allow them to see him upon our arrival. The family
wanted to be outside by the cargo door to watch the soldier being taken
off the airplane. I could hear the desperation in the flight attendants
voice when he asked me if there was anything I could do. 'I'm on it', I
said. I told him that I would get back to him.

Airborne communication with my company normally occurs in the
form of e-mail like messages. I decided to bypass this system and
contact my flight dispatcher directly on a secondary radio. There is a
radio operator in the operations control center who connects you to the
telephone of the dispatcher. I was in direct contact with the
dispatcher. I explained the situation I had onboard with the family and
what it was the family wanted. He said he understood and that he would
get back to me.

Two hours went by and I had not heard from the dispatcher. We
were going to get busy soon and I needed to know what to tell the
family. I sent a text message asking for an update. I saved the return
message from the dispatcher and this following is the text:

'Captain, sorry it has taken so long to get back to you. There
is policy on this now and I had to check on a few things. Upon your
arrival a dedicated escort team will meet the aircraft. The team will
escort the family to the ramp and planeside. A van will be used to load
the remains with a secondary van for the family. The family will be
taken to their departure area and escorted into the terminal where the
remains can be seen on the ramp. It is a private area for the family
only. When the connecting aircraft arrives, the family will be escorted
onto the ramp and planeside to watch the remains being loaded for the
final leg home. Captain, most of here in flight control are veterans.
Please pass our condolences on to the family.. Thanks.'

I sent a message back telling flight control thanks for a good
job. I printed out the message and gave it to the lead flight attendant
to pass on to the father. The lead flight attendant was very thankful
and told me, 'You have no idea how much this will mean to them.'
Things started getting busy for the descent, approach and landing.

After landing, we cleared the runway and taxied to the ramp
area. The ramp is huge with 15 gates on either side of the alleyway.
It is always a busy area with aircraft maneuvering every which way to
enter and exit. When we entered the ramp and checked in with the ramp
controller, we were told that all traffic was being held for us.

'There is a team in place to meet the aircraft', we were told.
It looked like it was all coming together, then I realized that once we
turned the seat belt sign off, everyone would stand up at once and delay
the family from getting off the airplane. As we approached our gate, I
asked the copilot to tell the ramp controller we were going to stop
short of the gate to make an announcement to the passengers. He did
that and the ramp controller said, 'Take your time.'

I stopped the aircraft and set the parking brake. I pushed the
public address button and said, 'Ladies and gentleman, this is your
captain speaking. I have stopped short of our gate to make a special
announcement. We have a passenger on board who deserves our
honor and respect. His name is private XXXXXX, a soldier who
recently lost his life. Private XXXXXX is under your feet in the cargo
hold. Escorting him today is army Sergeant XXXXXXX. Also, on
board are his father, mother, wife, and daughter. Your entire flight
crew is asking for all passengers to remain in their seats to allow the
family to exit the aircraft first. Thank you.'

We continued the turn to the gate, came to a stop and started
our shutdown procedures. A couple of minutes later I opened the cockpit
door. I found the two forward flight attendants crying, something you
just do not see. I was told that after we came to a stop, every
passenger on the aircraft stayed in their seats, waiting for the family
to exit the aircraft. When the family got up and gathered their things,
a passenger slowly started to clap his hands. Moments later more
passengers joined in and soon the entire aircraft was clapping. Words of
'God Bless You', I'm sorry, thank you, be proud, and other kind words
were uttered to the family as they made their way down the aisle and out
of the airplane. They were escorted down to the ramp to finally be with
their loved one.

Many of the passengers disembarking thanked me for the
announcement I had made. They were just words, I told them, I could say
them over and over again, but nothing I say will bring back that brave
soldier.

I respectfully ask that all of you reflect on this event and the
sacrifices that millions of our men and women have made to ensure our
freedom and safety in these United States of America.

I received a copy of your letter, "A plea to McCain and Obama Supporters". I believe, as you do, that Obama is not the guy, and although McCain was not my choice, he is clearly the best choice we have.
I was struck however, at the reference to George Bush. I certainly do not think that he has been a perfect President by any stretch, and I do not agree with him on a number of issues. But to call him a "clown" is totally unacceptable to me, and with all due respect, it should be to you, sir. George Bush is a patriot. He is an honest, God-fearing man, who has done his job for 7 1/2 years as best he could. And given the hand he was dealt (9-11 for openers, and many other major challenges), he should be remembered historically as one of our greatest Presidents.
You probably do not agree with that, but at the very least, sir, please do not refer to this man as a clown. By doing so, you demonstrate a disrespect for a man to whom we owe a great deal, and love him or hate him, I would challenge any objective, thinking person to logically refute that.
As I see it, you and GW have quite a bit in common, and I truly mean that as a compliment. Although I have never met either of you, I think both of you are courageous, self-sacrificing, intelligent ( Yes, intelligent. As I'm sure you know, this "dummy" as some folks like to quip about Bush, has a Harvard MBA. Last time I checked those did not come via open-book correspondence courses in one's spare time.), thoughtful, "Country-first" patriots, who care very little about any negative consequences of doing what each of you feel is the right thing. Both of you have served your Country to a much greater extent than probably 99.99% of Americans, and both of you deserve every American's respect and gratitude. Both of you certainly have mine.

Perhaps I was a tad too harsh on GW. After almost 8 years I had hoped that he'd learn to pronounce the word "to", but then Obama does the same thing. I find Bush's oratory skills interesting. Maybe it's because I have been living in Texas for the past 30-plus years, or maybe I just like listening to the guy (I do cringe a little when he says "neucular", but there's a certain down-homeness about it that makes me smile as well.), but I have found many of Bush's important speeches to be inspirational, with a clarity of message that makes his overall communicative effort very effective. Maybe I'm crazy,and I might prove it with my next statement. I do not consider Obama an excellent speaker. Good, maybe, but I'm just not impressed by his oratory. I realize that my view may have a lot to do with what he is saying, but his delivery just doesn't do it for me.
I think I have a little credibility on the issue, as I have been in sales and sales management most of my working life, so I guess you could say that I speak for a living (I guess "spoke" would be more accurate, as I reluctantly took early retirement after my job was eliminated about a year ago. I don't want to retire, nor do I intend to. Know of any jobs selling Lears, building materials, or ice to Eskimos?).
Anyway, take care of yourself. Be carefull about putting in too many 18-20 hour days. We need to keep great Americans like yourself around for as long as we can.

You totally missed the point. I'm NOT touting McCain and clearly state that he is not my first choice. What I AM saying is that Obama is the worst choice you could possibly imagine. He's a socialist who wants to raise taxes - and don't believe that crap about 95% won't be affected, 45% already don't pay ANY taxes - and who wants the redistribution of wealth, meaning he wants to stifle growth and entrepreneurship. As Winston Churchill once perspicaciously said, "Taxing your way to prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket trying to lift himself by the handle",

McCain has fought against gov't spending, pork barrel earmarks and warned that unless the Demoncats did something to curb these phony loans that a disaster could occur. They wouldn't listen and look what happened.

Are you seriously considering voting for a man you know nothing about? A man who voted "Present" over 90 times to evade the issues. A man of no experience whatsoever of governing anything? A man who has consistently lied about his past? A man who must have spent 20 years sleeping in church while the rabid Reverend Wright swore at our country? A man who stated in his book that (paraphrased) "If things turn ugly, I'd have to take the Muslim position"? A man who refuses to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, sing the National Anthem or follow protocol when the Anthem is played? Surely you can't be serious.

While I agree that heroic deeds don't qualify you to become President, let me ask you what attributes you find so exciting about this inexperienced Obama who never served his country in the military, knows nothing about the military, has no voting record in the Senate, who wouldn't vote against partial-birth abortion in Illinois and the list goes on.

If you want youth and inexperience go ahead and vote for Obama. If you do, however, you'll live to regret it - mark my words.

My patriotic heart has been pained for the last few months. Regardless of daily politics I have worn my US flag pin daily, although some days I hung my head in great confusion.

Never did I think a US election would be dragged through the mud as this one has. Actually, I do not mind the mud -- a strong fight is inspirational and it keeps the blood going. It is the split-pea mire of a mess in which we have found ourselves that has been so disappointing, so enraging. Whatever happened to "fighting the good fight"? If we can just get through this with JM finishing for us, I believe the nation will be better for it. For awhile there I did not know if I could hang on, but now after having read your piece I know I/we can. ... And I will continue to wear my flag pin with great pride, regardless of who "wins."

My husband and I are both USAF veterans during Vietnam. I was in the USAF in order to get the GI bill, which paid off many times over. He retired from the USAFR, and I did a 2-year stint after my first enlistment.

Larry graduated from the USAFA (1969), and there is not a day that passes that we are not both grateful for all our blessings stemming from that, another gift from being an American.

This year my husband retired from both the USAFR and American Airlines. I am doing volunteer work globally moving medically fragile children for gratis medical care.

It is a good thing we do not work, because this election is requiring a lot of research. Carry on!

I also don’t believe that most airmen (McCain) are heroes. They lived on during the war offshore on a huge aircraft carrier and from that safety flew missions over Hanoi (no air force) where they bombed basically civilian targets (dams, power stations) (23 missions for McCain) in support of a war started by another lie (Tonkin Gulf) and that this was the start of the fall of all the dominos countries. But the really cool thing is that Obama’s is going to win and then Lear can spent his nights thinking about how far the USA has come in just 70+ years in spite of him.

What a refreshing point of view, in that it mirrors what I have believed (with growing intensity) for the past two years. The man at the top (GWB) is, indeed, a boob, and congress is wholly ineffective, mainly because of our limited choices for who can run and gain office in this great country. The REAL problem is the two party system and the lack of voter participation. Unfortunately, these two things tend to feed into one another. By not giving the public a TRUE choice at the polls, many stay away thinking their vote won't matter. Having only two parties that can mount any viable awareness (thanks to both Madison Avenue and the Media), as well as the two parties with all the power, the only thing our politicians seem to be doing, once elected, is trying to secure another term or a higher position within the cash cow called the U.S. Government. IF ALL the incumbents were thrown out of office on election day, the shake-up would be tremendous. All the power alliances would be destroyed and politicians would be placed on notice that the American people were ready and willing to take back [their] government. Also, I believe that the socialized programs (health care, retirement entitlements, etc.) for our politicians should be like any job, only available to those actively in office. Let them use their own monies once out of office (out of the job) to provide their own medical, retirement and all the other facets of public life. If we create a system where ALL politicians are limited to one 6-year term, within the office (job) they were elected (hired by the public) to do, and then placed back in the private sector, perhaps we can take our country back from these blood-sucking parasites.

As for your assessments on the Presidential candidates, on that issue I respectfully disagree (I too am a veteran of military service). While I respect Mr. McCain and actually feel he would be an effective leader, I feel that, unfortunately, he is tied too directly to what Bush and his policies have rendered, as his voting record proves. I also feel that Palin is a horrendous choice for a V.P. pick and no more qualified to be President than Obama. [Why McCain didn't pick Romney, I'll never know. Obviously, McCain is not above pandering to the base he claims to continually battling with..being the maverick and all.) And while Biden is no great shakes, if he outlives his running mate, he is certainly the better choice to take over the reigns of power than a power abusing hockey mom with no more credentials to the highest power in the land than being Govenor of Alaska. Don't forget, the last Governor voted into office (at least the second time, he was selected for his first term by the power abusers in Florida (unfortunately my home state), didn't do so well, taking this country into an unecessary conflict while ignoring the TRUE threats to our country. I cannot in good concience endorse the party that took ths country to the nadir it's at now.

Sadly, Americans are more like lemmings than individuals and they do not appreciate the true power [they] hold. We need to break down the two party system and start treating our problems as more than just sound bites. The issues of late are (in my opinion); the economy, energy independence, education, geo-political and security. Why we cannot gather the greatest minds in each of these arenas and charge tehm with finding a way out of the mess our government (in its current form) has plaqced us is the real question. Unfortunately, the public needs to wake up and take back control.

And you think the Socialist Obama is gonna do that? Not a chance. He wants redistribution of wealth and higher taxes. As Winston Churchill so perspicaciously said, "Taxing your way to prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket trying to lift himself with the handle". And just exactly what do we know about the upstart Obama? Many, many disturbing things, but still not everything because he continues to hide his true past. we have to make good on our debts involuntarily, so be it. And lastly,
we are behaving more Socialistically currently (e.g., trillions in bailout dollars,
rescuing certain companies from demise, and not others, etc.) than ever
in our nation's history; and last I checked, we had a Republican Administration, a party I presume
you generally support, despite your claim of being an Independent; I, on the other hand, vote the person, not the party, though in San Francisco am
registered Democratic.

The votes will tell the story, and let us all hope that the future holds more in favor
of happiness and prosperity for our country than the past.

Well, it seems that the Libs, who can't handle the truth, are on a rampage over my "Plea" for sanity email.

The dissenters have developed a new tactic to harass me. They call my phone at all hours of the wee-morning and either hang-up or put a fax signal down the line!

Simple remedy. When I finally choose to collapse into the reverie of a Demoncat-free world, I simply take the phone off the hook. When I awaken, I restore my telephonic service by putting it back on the hook!

Doesn't disturb me at all, but it must keep a lot of frustrated troglodytes awake trying to get through. These hecklers are good at it. I looked up the word "heckler" in the thesaurus. It seems it's one who "baits" or who is a "baiter". As these folks are so good at it, would this then imply that they're "master-baiters"? It would seem an oxymoron, though, since most of them couldn't run a whorehouse by hand. They are, however, virtual shoo-ins as candidates for a Congressional seat.

This is also why I'm very pro same-sex marriage. In a trice there would be no new-born Demoncats to deal with in the future.

But, like so many of the few dissenters who have responded to my "Plea", (You're running 10:1 in the minority) you miss the point entirely. We're not talking about issues or blunders like Obama saying during an interview, "You mean why McCain doesn't ask me about my Muslim religion - I mean my Christian religion?" The only problem I have with the Muslim world is that they are sworn to destroy the U.S. and were responsible for 9/11. Failing that, I guess you could say they're really just a bunch of nice guys. A Humble Plea To Obama Supporters:

Dear friends,

I am truly astonished by the ignorance Obama supporters have displayed in their quest to get someone - ANYONE - into the White House. Now, wait a minute. I can well understand your dislike or even hatred of our naive GWB, but he is not the root cause of all of our problems. Our Congress is. And a change there would be welcomed by all. You ain't gonna get it done with Obama. You gotta fire the whole damnable crooked Congress. (Read my book, "BERNIE'S WAR!").

Perhaps I'm looking at all of this from a different perspective than you because my life experiences have been so different from yours. I'm 80-years old and have traveled the world where I've seen a great deal. I spent five years on active duty as a fighter pilot in the USAF and another seven years flying with the Air National Guard in California and Texas as well as a few years flying in the USAF Reserve. I spent three years on active duty in Germany flying Czech border patrol with "cold guns" in aircraft inferior to the MIG during the Korean "Police Action" when it was thought that Korea was a diversion for a Soviet invasion of Western Europe.

I lived abroad for a total of 28 years. Three years in Germany, twenty years in Switzerland and five years in Great Britain where I was based doing "spook" work for the U.S. behind the Iron Curtain before it fell. During that era of the Cold War I ventured to Moscow, Prague, Warsaw, Bucharest, Peshawar, Pakistan and Bulgaria posing as a Swiss French-speaking arms dealer purchasing weapons we surreptitiously supplied to the Afghani Mujahadeen in their successful fight against the Soviets - all of which came back to haunt us.

I've been there and done that and have had close associations with top government people in Germany, the Netherlands and Great Britain. I've had more foreign affair experience than Obama could ever dream of and, yet, wouldn't have the temerity to deign myself "Presidential" material; although I feel eminently more qualified to judge who would NOT be best for our country. My long-time world experience should count for something in my plea to you to abandon this miscreant flake. You will only be doing yourself and our country an enormous disservice if you persist in your support of this flash-in-the-pan opportunist.

I've associated closely with European royalty and African politicians. I've traveled to the Far East to observe their cultures. My point is that Obama, although formally well educated and a brilliant “speaker”, is a neophyte when it comes to understanding the world and is uniquely unqualified for the job as President of these great United States. His knowledge of economics is nil and his tax proposals absurd and life-threatening to the U.S. not only in economic terms but in preserving our national security as well. I don't want a "citizen of the world" to be President, I want a citizen of the good old USA to be President. Screw the rest of the world as they have well and truly screwed us. The time has come for us to awaken and start looking after ourselves. Now THAT would be CHANGE if that's what you're looking for.

While McCain has abstained from playing "the race-card", Obama is playing it to the hilt. Obama is more Muslim than black yet he trades on his blackness.

The larger question I have about him is that we really don't know much about him other than what HE tells us, what we read on blogs and from some serious non-partisan investigators whose factual reports are, unfortunately, generally ignored and which receive precious little media exposure.

I, as a registered Independent, a military veteran and a patriot, beseech you to put aside party considerations and vote for the lesser of the two evils. Yes, I am NOT a McCain supporter, but he is, at least, not a flake, doesn't carry Muslim baggage and is a PROVEN hero and patriot WITH experience. It's not a party issue. It's all about electing the best we can trust with what we've got to work with. Mr. Obama is NOT that guy.

Please, please rethink your voting position.

Thanks for reading my innermost thoughts. I care about all of you, but I care more about our country. Please help me to do both.

A Satirical Reality

Before I go to sleep at night (which is seldom these days) I try to think of something amusing yet in keeping with whatever “truth” means these days. The following occurred to me whilst awaiting Morpheus to administer her sleeping potion. Since she failed to show I decided to reduce these thoughts to writing.

Now, I know that my Liberal friends are going to take offense and I truly don’t give a rat’s ass, but whatever criticism(s) I make are made honestly and truthfully from my heart without regard to partisan politics – and all in good fun. Life doesn’t begin and end with politics – except as you will discern in the following classic satirical memorial to ye of limited memory.

Should you be one of these unfortunates, I challenge you to write an equally witty rebuttal. Please omit your usual rhetorical bullshit, Bert, Ralph and Phil.

I have done my best to analyze the insane thoughts and irrational acts of Liberals and have come to the conclusion that they are all suffering from some form of idiopathic brain damage which may have occurred at the moment of conception. They felt rejected when ejected and bear an odd similarity to the instrument from which they were propelled. Feeling alone and abandoned by their "cannoneer", and having had to compete with so many others vying to join in the massive Easter egg hunt, they became morose, depressed and developed a “phallitistic” determination to disassociate themselves from the real world.

Floating around in a sac of fluid for nine months is what undoubtedly led to their fear of reality - and of someone adding too much water to their whiskey. Instinctively, they knew that sooner or later they were gonna get out of what they thought was a "hell hole". Little did they realize that this attitude would change radically with time!

Another thing that annoyed them was the constant practice of having some other damned dick jammed in their faces more often than they cared for. "What the hell is going on? Is this prick trying to put a head on me? Well, thank you very much, I already have my own head and I plan to grow up being a bigger prick than you are anyway!"

A Liberal's birth trauma knew no bounds. On the one hand he/she was happy to be "out", but unfortunately, they STILL have yet to see the light-of-day. The journey they took to get to the outside world probably gave them an early understanding of what "greasing the skids" meant.

To add insult to injury, the first contact they had with these enormous creatures resulted in their getting their asses whipped; a delight that others would enjoy more than once when these congenitally paranoid schizophrenics grew up to reveal their early birth defects.

These paradoxical offspring soon learned the pleasures of suckling at the free fountain of sustenance, thus giving them hope and courage to provide this gratuity to one and all once physically grown, able to read and write and talk in riddles; as in, "The answer to your riddle may well lie within the question". Whaaat?

As the attending physician to the greatest hypocrite of all time, Al Gore, purveyor of the personally lucrative myth that man is responsible for Global Warming (an absurd notion disproved by scientific fact), once so succinctly and eloquently said, “Senator, your only cure is to take an enema and hopefully blow your brains out – or whatever is rattling around inside that round thing on the top of your neck”.

It is my firm belief that the perspicacious Doctor was right and I highly recommend his sound medical advice to other similarly affected (infected?) Liberals.

And so it was. And there you have it. Regrettably ….

T'was a lovely Saturday, September 27th 2008, as I impatiently awaited the arrival of our UPS delivery van. Had nothing better to do that morning. Had arisen at 0500 dingie-dongies suffering from anxiety in anticipation of seeing the proof copy of my novel "BERNIE'S WAR!".

I managed to gag down some packaged cereal laced with Kalua followed by a nervous puke. Feeling much better I left my hangar and hung out near the front door in case UPS might come early. I waved to a few early bird risers and gave my Greek next-door neighbor the finger whilst hurling some nifty Greek expletives at him. Now THAT'S a language rich in expletives that have all kinds of horrid meanings. Picked some of those up in Air Force flying school when a bunch of Greek students were going through at the same time. Of course, we taught them all the niceties of the English language, too. It was a riot. We taught them to say, "fuck you very much" instead of "thank you very much" and a variety of all sorts of other naughty words they could interject into their conversational English.

Nine and then ten o'clock came and went while I paced back-and-forth in front of our house. A few neighbors asked if anything was wrong. I simply told them that my wife, Brenda, had fallen down, was unconscious and that I was waiting for the ambulance to arrive - and then laughed. The poor sods didn't know what to think.

At eleven, tired and thirsty, I returned to my hangar muttering obscenities about the UPS driver's heritage. All kinds of things ran through my mind. I wondered if some dumb clown at the printers had forgotten to mark the package "For Saturday Delivery" thus leaving me in a full-swivel panic for the entire weekend. In a gesture of defiance, I cracked open an O'Doul's beer, added some salt and poured it down my gullet. In a few minutes I was belching like a cowboy whilst playing "Flatulating Rhythm" with my - well, you know what. Didn't seem to speed up the UPS dude, though.

Turned on the idiot box only to see some Muslim anal orifice telling us how he was gonna pull a trillion bucks out of his ass and give it to the needy. Not wishing to put a further strain on my own bowels, I turned that sumbitch immediately OFF. Sure wish it was that simple in real life.

At twelve noon I took a Valium and downed it with a shot of gin. It was only a matter of minutes before I was in la-la land. Awakened at two and lurched across the pool deck and into the house groping my way toward the front door.

EUREKA! There was a package by the door that looked like it might contain a book - and it DID. The frigging UPS dude hadn't even bothered to ring the doorbell and just dropped it by the door. It took me about fifteen minutes to figure out how to get the damned book box opened. There is NO way to get it opened short of destroying it and the contents therein. After breaking two fingernails I next pondered whether a chainsaw or a chisel and hammer would be best. I settled on tin-snips and this did the trick.

Sliding that book out of its shipping container was almost sexual! I was so pleased by its appearance that I didn't know if I was coming or going! At bloody last I was holding it in my hand (the book) and it looked just SUPERB! Hell, let's face it, at age 80 almost anything looks superb!

Ever onward to the marketplace or, as we say in Latin 101, "Ad Fornicatorium" - or something like that ....

Waiting on the Elusive Proof

I'm ever so glad that it's cooled off and can't wait for Sunday to arrive for it'll be then that I can bring my recliner and beach umbrella back into the hangar from where I've been using them next to our mailbox whilst awaiting a never-to-be-seen UPS delivery van bearing an almost forgotten novel proof.

I fear, alas, that my time has been ill-spent and have run out of wine and booze twice already while watching the grass grow and the ice cubes in my drink melt. What a bummer.

My consolation is that passersby have brought me sandwiches and refreshed my heady elixir from time-to-time as they prattle on about their drab little retired lives. I've learned all about the plethora of deaths that have occurred to their loved ones and this always cheers me up.

P.S. I'm sane again, but missing Smokey more and more. Had a couple to his memory tonight.

Have given up on the world, but am trying to have a last shot at saving what we have left which, I fear, is not much. The luge simply accelerates without brakes heading for the abyss while those silly bastards in government actually believe their stolen money will be worth something.

If lucky, I won't be here to see it so let US get rich as soon as we can and buy gold!!

Writer's Frustration

Hi Guys,

Have been driving myself - and probably you, too - crazy with this book project.

Have reached the point where I realize there's nothing more that you or I can do to expedite this.

So, for the sake of both our sanities I'm simply giving up and, at this point, really don't give a rat's ass if I ever see the frigging thing finished. I'll believe it when I see it and in the meantime will just go back to drinking again with my flying buddies and having a super old time! Sure wish Smokey was still around to join us.

Pls call if you hear anything. I shall remain silent in the meatime.

We're Starting to Get Somewhere

This book cover will hit my web book-site, www.bernieswar.com either the 19th or 20th of this month.

The design concept is mine and the artist was Bill LaRocque of Maryland. Being so far apart you can imagine the E's flying back-and-forth beginning with pencil sketches to the finished product. My publishing consultants, Carbon Press of Daytona Beach, Florida, have done a marvelous job of pulling this all together while aiding in the actual design phase. We have formed a collaboration for the marketing and distribution of the books that will prove to be a winning effort.

We're already receiving orders and the books won't be available until about Oct 1st. We're most excited about this.

Based on the interest we've received from various literary marketing sources, there will be an initial printing of 500 copies for distribution to friends, the media and disgruntled Liberals followed by a printing of 50,000 copies. If all goes as planned, this will be just a beginning.

Of the 50,000 copies we're committed to, we also plan to ship an, as yet, unspecified number of free copies to our troops overseas.

Some of you receiving this email, will be receiving a complimentary copy. These will first go to the six Liberal friends I have with my love and condolences, followed by shipments to family and close friends. There's got to be a cut-off point lest the 1,800 rational friends I have could create a financial crisis for me! I hope you will all understand.
